Colleen Brathwaite Honored by Volunteer New York

On April 12, 2024 Colleen Brathwaite, the former Chair of Westchester Women's Agenda, was honored at Volunteer New York's 2024 Volunteer Spirits Award. Ms Brathwaite received the Social Advocacy Award for her work to improve the lives of women by advancing racial, economic, and social equity and justice.

Ms. Brathwaite is a well-known figure across the county. "We have documented the vast inequities that exist in this affluent county, especially for women who look like me", she said in her acceptance speech.  Ms Brathwaite also co-founded the Westchester Racial Equity Collaborative, seeking to bring together groups to address racial inequities, and pushed Westchester County to revamp policies to achieve racial equity in its workforce.

It was a festive, inspirational event and WWA turned out in force to celebrate Ms Brathwaite and the other nominees.
